Million dollar baby …

CBSE datesheet are out. Check them on cbse.nic.in

  • Jonathan ‘Jony’ Ive, the British designer of Apple’s iPod, has been awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
The Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire ranks just below a knighthood and is awarded to individuals in recognition of their contribution and services to British interests by the Queen of England.
  • A firm that holds patents for technology used in Internet voice calling is suing search giant Google for US$5 billion over its Google Talk instant-messaging client.
Rates Technology (RTI), a small, New York company that holds patents to telecommunications technologies but does not sell products, filed suit in October against Google, claiming the company is using two technologies RTI has patented but has not licensed.
  • There are also rumours that a Google PC might be coming out with its own OS but it may just be a rumour.
  • 2005 Independent Game of the Year Awards goes to a game called Oasis. The game places you in the role of an Egyptian ruler. Each level starts out with the board hidden behind a ‘fog’ that keeps you from knowing what is out there. So the first thing our young leader will do is explore. Each step you take through the desert will add ‘followers’ to your cause. The followers will help you as you progress forward to do research, build roads and amass an army to protect your cities.

Adobe..hmm..Formerly Macromedia

Adobe has finally bought Macromedia. Adobe Systems, which specializes in Desktop publishing apps, brought multimedia applications maker Macromedia in a $3.4 billion deal which, will make adobe a multimedia and desktop publishing powerhouse. This is big news for creative/design world. Maybe Macromedia products like Flash will now be included in Creative Suite.

Some people are very happy with this Acquisition but other are not at all happy. I found this quote on the internet:

“Macromedia is a controversy free company, with excellent products. Adobe, tends to upset users and industry ‘partners’ not to mention buggy, fat, slow software. Moby Dick has swallowed the Little Mermaid…”

It will also be interesting to see how Adobe includes Macromedia Apps in its mainstream software. Whether it will keep macromedia as a separate division in the company or they will fool around with it and release it under a new name.
